The Most Ecstacy Soaked Recent German Records

To probe a potentially interesting topic raised by Tim, I think the most ecstacy soaked recent German record is the mighty Thomas/Mayer remix of "Welcome Back Kotter" by Tonetraeger. There's something magical about it for me, the huge mounting excitement and impermeable optimism, it reminds me of tracks like "The Future Is The Future" by Deep Dish, ones that were always really good while getting ready to go out but also amazing in club context. If ever you wanted to make a case for the quality of really pristine booming tech-house then this track would be the key piece of evidence.

Just that crackling buzzing beat in the intro, then those huge chiming synths, like cathedral bells that just keep on looping, and perhaps best of all the miniscule pause (after an eternity of the same loop) just before the bass drum eventually explodes back into life. An anthem!

"AND YOUR EARLY 90S TECHNO FEELINGS WILL NEVER DIE, ECSTACY WILL NEVER STOP WORKING FOR YOU, NOR DID YOU EVER DO ANYTHING EMBARASSING AT OSTGUT. WITH THIS RECORD YOU REMEMBER FONDLY A CERTAIN FEELINGS THAT WERE RIFE AMONG US ALL BACK IN THOSE WILD TRANSGRESSIVE DAYS. FOR MANY IT WAS NOT UNLIKE THE FINAL EPISODES OF "FRIENDS". TIP!"

Other nominations for most e-soaked recent German (or German style) records are surely welcome in the comments box. Perhaps a few other candidates to get the ball rolling.

Booka Shade-Mandarine Girl

You guys should set the blog up so you have the author's name at the top of the post; I always want to know who's voice I'm reading before I read it, and that means lots of scrolling. Help my lazy ass out, please : )

I'd include here all those post-Orbital German electro-house tracks like Rex the Dog's "Prototype" and Ada's "Lovelace".

Also Error Error's "Music, Music, Music, (and Music)" - HOUSE INTENSITY!!!

Hi, nice blog. Where are you guys from originally?

I really like Le Dust Sucker's song. What about Mayer's remix of Baxendale's I Built This City?

there's something i feel ada's lacking in a club context -- most of her tunes are too warm somehow to be anthemic, missing the space for the spine-tingling warehouse factor. rex, on the other hand, i agree with wholeheartedly. "i look into mid air", please?

i'd offer the mfa - overhang, with its bassy opening stabs on just the right side of petrifying, or perhaps the steve angello remix of gehts nocht (though i suspect its chronic overplay is wearing a little these days)

Hi,

I like this blog and I like trendy melodic/transey minimal tek house. I did not know people spammed response sections of blogs. I hope there is smothing you guys can do about it...
For e-song, how about "sweat on the walls". by John Tejada, or is that too obvious..

I can see this but I think "Lovelace" is the exception! Also most of her stuff takes on a "spine-tingling warehouse" factor when she plays live.

I know.

I think where recent refers to the scene 2 and a half years is recent, and it's not as though the record is dated.

Glad we cleared that up though.

i developed an unhealthy obsession with "the red shoes" that is refusing to go away. am also greatly enjoying her remix of international pony's immense "our house", picked up for the princely sum of two pounds earlier today.

i'd go to great lengths to see ada live, as i sadly couldn't make it when she last played fabric. anybody aware of any future uk dates..?

Based on your choice, you must be a fan of Tobias Thomas's Smallville.
This is one of my favourite mix in recent years!

"welcome back kotter" is an immense record. it may have been out a couple of years, but it's still being played in the clubs. i've heard both michael mayer and dominik eulberg drop it in the last year, to a rapturous reception i might add.

and "smallville" is my favourite kompakt mix cd.
